Operation Cat Race In Benue: The Military Is Aiding Herdsmen - IHRCMG

MAKURDI—Independent Human Rights and Crime Monitoring Group, IHRCMG, has accused the Nigerian military of encouraging the influx of cattle into Benue State and takeover of Benue communities by herdsmen in violation of the Open Grazing Prohibition Law of the state.

Speaking on the execution of the military’s Exercise Ayem A’ Kpatuma (Cat Race) in in Makurdi, yesterday, the Team Leader, Solomon Adodo, regretted that the state had witnessed more killings, destruction of farmlands and houses despite the coming of the military.

The group also accused the Federal Government of complicity in the crisis bedevilling the state, alleging that the government was not doing enough.

He said: “Exercise Ayem A’ Kpatum (Cat Race) is causing more harm than good to Benue communities. Rather than bring peace, the military have been encouraging more herdsmen to move into Benue communities.”

Lagos Accident Victim Carried In A Wheelbarrow For Treatment

A ghastly motor accident involving a truck and a commercial bus occurred earlier today at Ilaje bus stop before Ajah area in Lagos. One of the accident victims was carried in a wheelbarrow as he was rushed by passersby for medical treatment.
