Olamide launches New Television Station “VOTS”

As he celebrates his birthday today, Nigerian rapper and YBNL boss Olamide adds yet another feather to his cap with the launch of his very own television station, vots (Voice Of The Streets) . vots will be available on Play TV from Thursday, 15th of March 2018. 91% Of Nigerian Importers Are Smugglers – Customs

Abuja – Colonel Hameed Ali (rtd), Comptroller-General (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), said 91 percent of importers in the country are smugglers. Ali, who made the disclosure on Thursday, in Abuja, at the public presentation of a book, ‘Appraisal of the Crime of Smuggling In Nigeria’, authored by an Assistant Comptroller of the Service, Musa Omale, said the 91 percent of importers did not comply with the stipulated rules governing goods importation. He directed all Customs Area Commands to apply more stringent measures to track down the smugglers and paralyse their activities permanently. The CG, who urged Customs personnel to carry out this mandate to the letter, advised that it was the statutory duty of the NCS to search and confiscate all smuggled items into the country, to save the economy. Barren Woman Displaced By 14-year Old House Maid From Her Home

CYRIACUS IZUEKWE A 14-year old house maid dislodged a barren woman after she was impregnated by the woman’s husband simply known as Emmanuel, as she insisted she will not share or live with Emmanuel’s wife under the same roof. The incident happened at Egbeda area of Lagos where Emmanuel resided with his wife and they had not been able to bear a child after years of marriage. P.M.EXPRESS reports that the maid reportedly insisted that the embattled woman should look for another husband elsewhere since she was unable to bear a child for Emmanuel before she got pregnant for him. Pastor Chukwudi Okoh: "Letter From Ogboni Fraternity Threatened Me"

A Lagos-based pastor and leader of Kingdom Fire Ministry International, Chukwudi Okoh, has called on the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Christian Association of Nigeria, and the Nigeria Police Force to investigate a threat letter purportedly written to him by some people who claimed to be members of the Ogboni Fraternity. Okoh, who spoke with our reporter on Tuesday, said he had gone to his church auditorium in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos State on November 7 for a meeting with other church leaders when he saw the letter which he thought was a prayer request. On opening the letter, the 52-year-old Ebonyi State indigene said he discovered that it was a threat to his life over his involvement in the destruction of traditional shrines and conversion of some idol worshippers to Christianity. The Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Mounir Gwarzo, has been suspended by the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun. His suspension was made known in a statement signed by Patricia Deworitshe, Deputy Director Ministry of Finance. Gwarzo’s suspension, according to the statement, is in line with the Public Service Rules (PSRs) 03405 and 03406 to allow unhindered investigation of fraud allegations leveled against him. U.S. Investigates Sinopec For Bribing Nigerians With $100 Million

Indications emerged Wednesday that the China Petroleum and Chemical Corp., known as Sinopec, is being investigated by the United States’ authorities over allegations of bribe payments totalling $100 million to Nigerian officials to resolve a business dispute. According to Bloomberg investigations, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Justice Department, are investigating claims that lawyers acting as middlemen for Sinopec allegedly funnelled illicit payments to the yet-to-be-named Nigerians from its Swiss unit through New York and California. The report noted that the payments were allegedly meant to resolve a $4 billion dispute between Addax Petroleum unit in Geneva and the Nigerian government over capital costs like drilling, tax breaks and royalties between the company and Nigeria’s oil corporation, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. JAMB Introduces Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) For 2017/18 Admission

Report from the ongoing JAMB policy meeting indicates that JAMB has introduced the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) which is geared towards ensuring quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process. According to a participant, the new policy is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.’ These institutions will write to JAMB to request for the students and also give them (students) three days to respond. Also, only three universities can request for a candidate if the policy is adopted. Chief Innocent Chukwuma, OFR, and Innoson Nig Ltd. have filed a fresh lawsuit against Guaranty Trust Bank PLC in the High Court of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja claiming a total sum of 400 billion Naira damages for injury to their reputation, moral character, credibility, office, vocation and trade.
